Good Morning, All! I haven’t blogged in more than a week and that means I am definitely in need of a good hard spanking. However, in lieu of actually getting one, I’m simply going to make for the lack of blogging with actual…blogging.
My topic today is Creations by Kendra. She’s an amazing graphic artist both for publishers and in her own business. She’s incredibly passionate about this, always trying new techniques, always learning new methods, always improving her already impressive skills.
She specializes in banners, cover art, Myspace and Twitter backgrounds, websites, book trailers and other promo material. I have only known her personally since meeting her at the Lori Foster Reader and Author Get Together this past summer. Her personality is fun and engaging and she’s always talking with people and connecting in ways that I only dream of. She’s very outgoing, I’m very shy and quiet. I would say you could ply me with alcohol, but then I’d just fall asleep, so…

You’ll notice the little cupcake off to the side…she’s trying to find a way to work my love of writing about hot sex and sweet desserts into a theme on my website. Completely her own idea and I absolutely love it. She’s also the one that will be moving my traditional site over into a WordPress site next year and I can’t wait!
Kendra has been the cover artist for this hot little BDSM series from Eliza Gayle and she created this banner to go along with it.
And of course, her own banner for her own site.
She’s designed covers from sweet romance to erotic to urban fantasy.
There’s something in these two covers I like. I’m not an artist like this, so I don’t know technical terms. I only know I love the use of color, the use of texture, the use of imagination and interpretation while at the same time, trying her best to adhere to what the author wanted.
As an author, I know how difficult it is to describe into words on a cover art form what we see in our mind’s eye for the cover of the book that we’ve labored over for what seems like years. We don’t want the artist to botch that up and trust me, I’ve seen some covers that…*shakes head* But, at the same time, and more often than not, I see covers that leave me salivating and wanting more. And no, it doesn’t always involve the hot yummy nearly naked man. Get your minds out of the gutter and pull mine out while you’re at it.
She’s an avid reader of all genres, so don’t let these two paranormal websites trick you into believing that’s all she does. It’s not and in the future, you’ll see that. Her ability to create what the author wants while adding her own special brand of magic and individuality to it is what I like so much about Kendra.
Some of her other clients include Samantha Kane of the wildly popular and highly erotic Brother’s in Arms series at Ellora’s Cave, Lori Foster, and Jennifer Ashley.

I just wanted to give you a taste of what this artist can do. She’s friendly, she’s open minded, she’s dilligent in her work, and she strives to give the very best of her ability. I’m proud to finally have met her and can now call her friend. She had no idea I was going to do this blog about her, but I am continually impressed with what she can do and what she’s learning to do. I love learning new things and I think it’s an amazing testament to a person when they are always improving and trying new things, wanting to try new things, wanting to expand on what they already know. Kendra is one of these types of people. You’ll be impressed by her, too.
She’ll be participating in the Cupcake Giveaway with Romance in the Backseat that has been inspired by my upcoming (TOMORROW! EEK!) Samhain release Pink Buttercream Frosting.
