I reached a birthday milestone in December last year. Hubby and I planned to go away for a few days, and I was looking forward to the break. On the morning of our departure, my husband woke me at seven. “Go and read your email,” he said. I didn’t understand why I needed to get up so early but I hadn’t packed and thought I’d start on that. When I walked into the office I found a flash drive and a note. The note said, Shelley Munro—your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to insert this flash drive.
I, of course, was curious. I opened the file on the flash drive and a movie started playing. Our holiday destination wasn’t the one I thought. My husband had booked a cruise and I hadn’t suspected a thing. The ship traveled around New Zealand, sailed across the Tasman Sea to Hobart and Eden and ended in Sydney. Did I want to go? Hell, yeah!
My husband had arranged a few special tours during the cruise. We went dolphin watching and on my actual birthday, we did a wine tour. He made me a special movie showing my progress from baby to present day and gave me a bracelet. We had a ball, arriving home a few days before the family descended on us for Christmas. Even the weather was perfect. Best birthday ever!

Sorry I’m so late to visit and comment. I’m on New Zealand time and had to go out this morning. My birthday surprise really was amazing. My husband was very sneaky, intercepting credit card bills and stray emails that shouldn’t have come to our inbox. He didn’t tell anyone apart from his mother. He said he couldn’t trust anyone else not to blab!
I kept receiving little surprises all the way throughout the cruise, which was really nice.
He really is a keeper.
