Yep, that’s me. Old. And cranky. I used to love going shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. I’ve never done the crazy get up before dawn and wait in the cold for the stores to open, but we used to have a nice breakfast and all pile in the car afterward for a trip to the mall. I used to love the sights and sounds and the festive spirit.
No more. I do 80-90% of my holiday shopping online. I don’t have to deal with the crowds. I shop on Cyber Monday and it all depends on what I’m looking for. My kids want video games, movies, and T-shirts I can only find online. Event tickets, too.
Every now and then, I’ll venture out on Black Friday, but not at the butt-ass crack of dawn. There is no deal worth it and not enough coffee. I’ll sleep in, fix a nice breakfast, then head to the nearest Starbucks for a Venti Gingerbread Latte before I tackle any store. This year, my brother and his family are coming for Thanksgiving. They want to do the butt-ass crack of dawn shopping and that is fine with me. Without me.
I don’t have the patience for the crowds anymore. Hence the large coffee. It keeps my mouth occupied so I don’t end up telling some poor idiot off who stops in the middle the mall to have a conversation or simply stand there. I don’t want to stand in line to buy something I’m not even sure anyone is going to want. I don’t want to have to break out the Excedrine every hour because the screaming kids and their screaming parents won’t stop…screaming.
Oddly enough, y’all, I do love Christmas. I love all the trappings of it… I want to see the lights and decorations. I want to go shopping and be out among people. I just don’t care to do it on Black Friday anymore. However, in the spirit though of the blog hop, I’ll leave you with a tradition we now have on Black Friday which does require us to go out for a bit. It’s Charlotte Motor Speedway. You’re surprised, huh? LOL… It’s the end of NASCAR season and every year the day after Thanksgiving, souvenir haulers line up inside the walls of the track with discounted merchandise from the racing season. Spend $50, which for our household isn’t difficult, and you can take your personal car and drive the racetrack for 3 laps. My son love its. You get right up against the wall or down low on the apron. You can go up to 70mph and it really is a fun time. It’s a treat and though there’s a crowd, and a long line to wait in, it’s different than the normal Black Friday day at the mall, or Walmart, or Target, or any other traditional shopping place.
What do YOU do on Black Friday?

That’s it. Easy Peasy! Go have some fun!
I do NOT go out into the craziness that is known as Black Friday! I have one more dinner to go to for the day so more turkey for me!
mconnolley@yahoo.com
I’m usually one of those crazy people that doesn’t even sleep after thanksgiving dinner. I usually finish dinner, get my adds and map out where I need to go according to the time the store opens and what I want. I normally make it home around 10 am Friday morning with all my shopping done and dead tired but on a shopping high 😉 this year I won’t be doing it though – just not feeling the sales and have done a lot online shopping already I will do Saturday small business and cyber Monday for sure. I may head out this afternoon and see what is left. Hope everyone who braved it gets what they wanted.
LOL. We’re so much alike…guess I’m old and cranky too. 😉
We usually put up our Christmas tree on Black Friday. The shopping craziness is not for me!
I usually look at the aids and If I see something worth the effort, then I go out. Other wise I’m safe at home.
liadavistd@gmail.com
Nope, don’t shop Black Friday. Never have. I’m not a big shopper anyway, so why start on Black Friday. I’d rather sleep and be lazy.
Great giveaway Lissa.

maw1725@gmail.com
What a great blog post, Lissa! You had me laughing a few times. I live on Long Island with too many people to begin with so the last thing I am going to do is going shopping on Black Friday. I can hardly go on a regular Friday! People push and shove and knock you over, over here, and that’s at Walmart any day of the week! I would need a stiff drink when I got back if I was to go out shopping today. I’ve learned to do it mostly online for my kids now and have no problem with that.
This is a cool giveaway. Thanks! Now to hunt down the other authors….
I forgot my email address…it’s TLC84@yahoo.com. Sorry!
This black friday I fell asleep on my couch watching christmas movies looking at my christmas tree. that looked alot better then the lines I saw on t.v.. to get a gift.–Rachel
What do I on Black Friday? Sit at home and hang with the family. Never shopped during Black Friday and I never will! What shopping I don’t have already completed (I try to shop during the year), I do in stores BEFORE today or I do online prior to or during Cyber Monday. NO stress and so easy!
Thank you for the giveaway!
books4me67 at ymail dot com
I think it’s funny that so many of us on this blog hop are saying we’re not shoppers. 🙂 I’d MUCH rather be doing this than fighting crowds for another piece’o’crap my family doesn’t need.
jay9moore@gmail.com
I eat Thanksgiving leftovers on Black Fridays, of course 🙂
Awesome giveaway! msgabby(at)gmail(dot)com
No Black Friday shopping for me. I tried one year and it felt as if I spent most of my time trying to find a parking space, so by the time I got into the mall I was beyond frustrated and the shopping hadn’t even begun. Never again! LOL
Thanks for the giveaway!
bimmergrlmd at gmail dot com
I’d rather have my fingernails pulled out than put up with the craziness in the stores.
My husband works in retail, and the stories I’ve heard just leave me stupified. People actually go insane today!!
Thank you for the giveaway!
I do not go out of the house on Black Friday. I stay home and decorate. I usually have a pizza delivered and yes I do tip the driver very well for my laziness….lol
I ususally like to do my shopping around the middle of December. I can’t hold onto a gift. If I have it I want to give it to that person then..
koonie2888 at yahoo dot com
I don’t shop on Black Friday usually, unless it’s online. I usually work a 1/2 day that day since my job pays me for the other 1/2…lol
This is such a cool contest!
aunt_cori(at)yahoo.com
Crazy people with the shopping. No surprises, though, that people die doing this every year.
hanraldblackstone@yahoo.ca
Today I decorate the house or bake, but I defiantly don’t shop. Happy Holidays everyone:)
I used to brave the storm and go out on black friday. But this year times are tough and I couldn’t make it out no matter if it was a good deal or not.
I do have some money in my paypal so I may take advantage of some cyber monday sales.
~~*Drea*~~
dreabecraft(@)aol.com
I stay home, enjoy leftovers and shop online. That craziness is not for this one!!

Hi Lissa,
We don’t have Black Friday here. But just from the stories I’m hearing already today.I’m glad we don’t.If I want the deals online shopping I’ll go.I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

Online shopping for me this year. I hate shopping with a lot of pushing and shoving.

I don’t do Black Friday. I don’t like crowds and folks are just down right rude!
Give me online shopping!!!
Thanks,

I do not shop on Black Friday. I don’t care about the deals. It’s not like there won’t be an sales throughout the month of December, leading up to Christmas Eve. People act like it’s the end of the world and must go out and shop ! I online shop. That’s the only way I can keep my sanity during the holiday season.
lovetoreadforfun(at)gmail(dot)com
Woww, that looks insane! We don’t have Black Friday in London. I didn’t even know what it was until a few days ago.

Black Friday terrifies me I wen to Walmart and people are crazy!
khelseyrjackson@gmail.com
I love black Friday shopping! I just avoid Walmart, Best Buy, and Toys R Us. I just got everything I wanted at Target – including the electronics! Thanks for the Blog Hop giveaways! chessa79 (at) gmail (dot) com.
That’s a great you have, I would love to drive on the track also! But yes I am one of those crazy people that does venture out into the crowds, we go in a group so we are watching out for each oter. Last night the store we all wanted to go opened and started the sale earlier, so we shopped and were home by midnight, got all our deals and saved lots of money too 🙂 Thanks for being part of the Blog Hop!
Eva
evitap67(at)gmail(dot)com
I’m with you, I just don’t have the patience for hordes of people attacking the mall. There’s minimal traffic when I shop online from my living room, LOL, and the prices are pretty much the same if you look for cyber deals. Have a super holiday!
robinbadillo720 (at) yahoo (dot) com
I don’t do crowds, so I keep my butt home always. Happy Holidays! aviashnanama@yahoo.com
What a great blog hop. I’m hopping along.
Old and cranky – I resemble that.
I work at Kohls and thankfully I don’t have to go in till 6pm tonight. I guess at 11 last night we had a line that wrapped around the store.
I just know by 6pm tonight when I go in it will look like a tornado went through. lol.
Thanks for the giveaway! You wouldn’t catch me dead out on Black Friday. Nothing is worth the pushing and shoving and the closed in feeling!!!! NOTHING!
delivery.RN at gmail dot com
I avoid shopping I hate it with a passion. One year my mom gave each of my daughters Walmart gift cards… I paid a friend to take them shopping.
No, No, No…Black Friday, if there is any shopping to be done…it’s online for me! Saves toes that way!
barbbattaglia@yahoo.com
im pretty much done my holiday shopping.. have been since.. ohh october. but i dont think saving a few bux is worth the hassle to go to anything like that.. living in a rural place has given me a very low tolerance of crowds recently..
On Black Friday, I start my Christmas shopping online and pull out the Christmas tree and decorations. I abhor the crowds and the long lines.
mizztuts AT bellsouth DOT net
I don’t usually go out on Black Friday; I check the online deals instead and save myself from the absolute craziness around the mall and shopping centers.
Thanks for being part of this giveaway! Happy Holidays to you and yours.
susanaudrey33 at gmail dot com
All I can say is Starbucks sounds wonderful right now! Happy holidays.
cmselfridge@gmail.com
There is absolutely nothing that I need so badly that I would go out in the insane mass of humanity. I will do my shopping online or at the small local stores thank you very much. Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Holidays.
dukediva32(at)yahoo(dot)com
Thanks for the giveaway. Count me in.
cindyc725 at gmail dot com
I’m a bit grumpy about the black friday craziness. Every few years ago I’ll do the butt-crack of dawn shopping, and that’ll do me.
melorabrock {at} gmail {dot} com
I’ve never gone shopping on Black Friday (and don’t intend to). Back when I was still in retail, I had to work on a Black Friday and it was ridiculously chaotic. The only thing that made it worthwhile is that all of sales associates got paid extra for every hour we worked that day.
Thanks for the awesome giveaway! Happy Holidays!
gosia727(at)gmail(dot)com
what an awesome giveaway! thanks!!
darksiry(at)gmail(dot)com
For Black Friday, I sat on my rear, read a book, played on my laptop and ate leftovers. Yeah I am too old and cranky to fight the crowds. And anyway, Cyber Monday is easier
teressaoliver at gmail dot com
I considered going out today for black friday, then I got sick yesterday with a nasty cough and there was no way I was going anywhere. It’s probably for the best, anyway.
geminicalli at yahoo dot com
I’m only an online shopper. I don’t have the patience for the long lines either.
Thalia
museclues08 AT yahoo DOT com
Boy do I ever relate to your viewpoint! I hate crowds, the rudeness of people, trying to find a parking spot, etc. I’ve been doing 90% of my Christmas shopping online now for the last 10 years. And coffee is a must, but when it comes with *having* to go out during the holiday season, coffee becomes a DIRE necessity, lmao!
I sleep though half of it…. hahahaha. But, no, really. It’s true 😉
I sleep in on Black Friday. I love to shop, but I don’t want to get my butt kicked over some toy, electronic gadget or clothing that I can buy online with no hassle lol.
Ashley A
ash_app@hotmail.com
I am pretty much an online only shopper, and haven’t ventured forth on Black Friday for over ten years. I adore Christmas time, but the craziness at the mall just makes me twitch.
caity_mack at yahoo dot com
I used to go out and be one with the crazies. I don’t do it anymore. They don’t have anything that I need to buy so badly that I’m willing to put up with rude and obnoxious people! Thank you for the giveaway! brendem7@comcast.net
Ugh it was an utter nightmare! This is the first year I’ve gone out to black Friday and what a mess, it’s true people are rude, pushy, and it was gonna get physical for a hot minute but the lady backed off when she saw I was 6 ft and willing to rumble lol j/k. But the point is is that next year my laptop, zebra slippers, and green tea are doing all the shopping next year haha. roeflor@gmail.com
What I do on Black Friday is pretty much what I do every time I have a day off, I relax, read a good book, and surf the web. I don’t have many gifts to buy, so it isn’t that big of a deal to me. I mostly buy online or go shopping here and there, after all the craziness dies down.
Barbed1951 at aol dot com
I can’t do Black Friday shopping. That is too crazy. All those people pushing to get an item on sale and the store only has 10 of them. No thanks. I rather sleep in. Awesome giveaway. Thanks for the chance. Hope everyone had a great holiday.
KimS.
truebloodfan(at)rock(dot)com
I sleep in on Black Friday and shop online for deals. Thanks for the awesome giveaway.
Crystal816[at]hotmail[dot]com
Online shopping is the way for me. No lines, no stress, no traffic. I did Black Friday once, not knowing the whole concept of it and it was an interesting experience. But nowadays, it is getting more violent as the years go by. So, I might consider myself being a coward but I see it more as being safe than sorry.
I slept in this morning since I wasn’t feeling too good. I feel a bit better now. I did look at some online store when I did get up. Good luck everyone!
amysmith98(@)gmail.com
Thank you for the great giveaway opportunity! Such nice prizes!
I do online shopping now – I am also to old and cranky to deal with the crowds. Yuck!
Gena Robertson
robertsongena@hotmail.com
I used to shop when the kids were younger. Got up early drove like mad, fought the crowds.
Came home exhausted.
Now after I get home from work, I do shopping on line. easier and safer that way.
luvfuzzzeeefaces at yahoo dot com
Luckily, I’m old and cranky, too. If and when I ever have grandchildren, I might be tempted if there was some “must have” toy on the list, but these days? Nope. I’d much rather curl in and blog hop!
silverjames@swbell.net
I am cranky with ya! I just can’t go out there. I get to annoyed too fast.
i went shopping late last night but i have done most of my shopping online today
meandi09@yahoo.com
i am with you, i don’t go to the stores any more either. if there is something we need at a store, my family goes and gets it. i walk on a cane and if i went it would be asking for trouble and be frustrating for me. so i stay home and shop online. 🙂
thank you for the chance at such a great giveaway and i hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving.

great giveaway! thanks so much!
rypm25@aol.com
Well, I usually do what I did today– hang with the kids, eat leftovers and watch movies. NO Black Friday for me! I will occasionally stop at a store for something during the weekend if it was a REALLY good special, but I’m in and out like the wind:)
wayfaringwriter at gmail dot com
online shopping is a must on Black Friday, while watching Christmas movies of course! Got The Santa Clause on in the background now!:-)
My friend goes to black friday every year, and always asks me to go, but there is no freakin’ way I’d willingly put myself through that! lol Thank you for the chance to win
When it comes to any major sale I’m sure to be at home or perhaps at the library picking up a handful of books to keep me company. I don’t have the patience to wait in line and large crowds makes me uncomfortable. I do take peeks at online deals and that’s it.
No shopping for me on Black Friday! It’s rare that I head out, and I’ve *never* waited at like 3 AM or any time for a store to open. I do internet shop though. 😛 That’s my consumer weakness.
I’m shocked that I actually managed to get through Black Friday without getting slapped this time. Some people are just flat out ridiculous about it! n.dematos@gmail.com
I try to get done early or send the hubby out 🙂
Thanks for participating in the giveaway!

This is such an awesome giveaway! I would love to be entered:
sugar_creek_cottage@yahoo.com
I had fun shopping at Target and Joanns with my mom and daughter, and then some more shopping on line. We never go to the mall, so we avoid most of the craziness others report. Now my daughter is out with my husband shopping at HalfPrice books, leftover turkey when she gets home, yum!

This is a fun giveaway.
Thank you for the generosity.

I don’t go out with the masses. It’s too stressful. I hit up Cyber Monday with joy. At least I don’t have to deal with the stress.
Thanks for the giveaway.

I haven’t really had any crazy Black Friday experiences….one time some lady stole a comforter right out of my hands and ran away…THAT was weird lol
Thank you so much for doing this giveaway! A kindle fire would be an excellent christmas present!
hense1kk AT cmich DOT edu
This is so awesome!!! I have been lusting after one of these for ages and the fact that it’s being given away by some of my favorite authors just makes it that much better!!! Good luck to all but I ‘d be lying if I said I didn’t want to win. lol roeflor@gmail.com
I mostly do my shopping online. I’d prefer to spend my time reading one of my favorite books, than be stuck in a line.
Thanks for the giveaway. Hope I win 1 of your books. 😉
jewel4jay(at)hotmail(dot)com
I think getting up at the butt crack of dawn for an extra fifty bucks off a TV! I’m cynical enough without watching people act like lunatics! My Black Friday traditions is to watch football and put up my Christmas tree.
Thanks for the chance to win!
very cool! please count me in! rhob3123@gmail.com
Doubt it’s worth the lack of sleep but winning would be nice 🙂
frellathon(at)gmail(dot)com
Well, I sure enjoyed your tale about
shopping during black Friday. It just
made be laugh. You are so wise to
shop on the internet, so easy to do.
Thanks for the hop and the great
giveaways, too. cheers

Black Friday has now crept into Thanksgiving. So what should we now call? Anyway, if a woman with pepper-spray was the worst to come of it, we should be thankful. I hope they catch her.
I brave the crowds even tho I’m not fond of the rush and the crowds. This year I just went for a few things and it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I hope that you had a happy Thanksgiving!
jessangil at gmail dot com
Online shopping is amazing. Especially if I can get free shipping.
marypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
Lissa I am with you, there is not enough coffee that can get me up at the crack of dawn and you are so right, there is nothing that important that is worth beating the crowd to go buy.
Like you I do most of my shopping online so I applaud those who go out to the stores, more power to you. I can get the same deal or better by shopping online. To top it off, I usually have most of my shopping done for the holidays by the time black friday comes around so I dont get to excited. I buy all year round so I dont have to wait to the last minute to buy anything.
Here lately though my grown kids are wanting money instead of gifts so I like going that rout too.
Hope you have a wonderful Holiday season.
thank you for the giveaway, I am a big fan annd can’t believe I am finally on your sight leaving you a comment – usually I am giving one of your books away. LOL

I must be old and cranky too because there is no way I’d ever shop on Black Friday. Talk about danger-filled. I’m an online shopper all the way.

No Black Friday shopping for me! Today I’ve done laundry and cleaned up after Thanksgiving. Just relaxing.
tdlsfm(at)gmail(dot)com
Happy Black Friday! What a great way to celebrate! Shopping out on Black Friday could be fun, I expect, if only people didn’t insist on getting violent. You’ve made a wise decision to shop online instead. Thanks for the giveaway. I hope you have a lovely day:)

LSU BABY!! I do not go any where near the stores… That’s my tradition!
I dont do the early early morning lines. There has never been anything out there worth that to me. I usually go later in the day for some of the regular onsale items. But a lot depends on what I need to get people that year. And what I think I can get online instead.

ainfinger(at)comcast(dot)net
I had a horrible Black Friday shopping day! My daughters and I started out at 11:00 pm last night. Stood inline outside of Best Buy for 2 hrs. in freezing cold. got nothing. Then stood outside of Old Navy for another hour then waited in line hour and a half to check out. Kohl’s would have been 2 hrs. to get checked out. We gave up there. Bath & Body hour and a half check out time. So basically was out all night got home 930 this morning with hardly nothing and so tired and achy and cranky! UGH! Never again for me! I’m done being a Black Friday shopper except online.
I stay home!! Thanks for the blog hop!

This year I went blog hopping for Black Friday and missed out on the craziness 🙂 Thanks for the fun!
dz59001[at]gmail[dot]com
Wow Black Friday looks NUTS! What did I do…. I was at work. I guess the closest thing we have here is when the sales start on boxing day, but as it is a national holiday and the day after Christmas so most people are STUFFED or over the limit and stop home, plus it is semi restricted opening hours. Me…. I shall sleep!
Went out this year after many years of not going. The buys this year were great as was the weather for once.
