Some Things…

Happy New Year! May 2012 be all you wish for and more…

Some things change and some things stay the same in life and it’s no different on this blog. So, with that being said, I thought I’d jump in real quick and give y’all an update on what we have going on.

Guest blogs. This started yesterday. We’re (Brandy and I) are going to try and fill some days with authors and bloggers. Some you may know and some you may not. This will bring new readers over here and it will ease up on my guilt of not having something going every day. And yes, there is guilt. I think it should be fun to have new people come in and say hi and talk about their books or their writing or whatever they want to talk about. If you know anyone who would like to guest blog or if you yourself would like to do so, let me or Brandy (bray829 AT gmail DOT com) know.

A newsletter. Yes, I am finally going to jump on this. Sometime here in January, I’ll be putting out the first newsletter. I have no idea what I’ll be saying it yet, but I’ll figure out something. People have been asking on and off for about 2 years for one, so I caved and said yes. If you haven’t signed up for it yet, go for it!

Self publishing. There will be more of it. More M/M and more M/F. The next release is later this month: Trouble in the Making.

And next month will see the release of Book 3 in my Blue Jeans and Hard Hats series, Forever In Blue Jeans. Kendra Egert, the fabulous cover artist who designed the Twisted Up cover and the Trouble cover,  and who has been designing author Melissa Schroeder’s covers of late, is working on the Forever cover. I can’t wait. I think y’all will love it!

Publishers. I will still be writing for them.

Coffee. I will still be drinking it on a very, very regular basis.

Conferences. I am currently signed up for Authors After Dark in New Orleans and will be signing up first thing tomorrow for Lori Foster’s Annual Reader and Author Get Together. I love Lori Foster’s event. It’s small and intimate and people there actually know me. Authors After Dark is like a shot in the dark for me, but I am going. Those are the only ones I’m planning to attend. Romantic Times is out of the question for a variety of reasons.

Writing. There will be more of it this year than in 2011.

Books. I will be reading a TON this year. Probably not as much as y’all do, but I’ve gotten back into reading so…

Readers. I need more readers. I need the current readers I have. I know I often say ‘we’ and ‘us’ but without you, my readers, I couldn’t do this. We ARE in this together. I am more thankful and grateful and happy to have you than I can possibly say. Without you, I wouldn’t be able to pursue a career in writing and without me, well, y’all wouldn’t have Vinter, or Jaz, or Buck, or Cam, or Justin… 😉

Snippet Saturdays and Six Sentence Sundays. I’ll be trying to do these more regularly.

Contests. We’ll have more.

Website. There’s going to be an overhaul. There will be a color change, a header change, the bookshelf will be rearranged and better laid out. I will be working closely with the fabulous Dee Tenorio on it. She does amazing work and any updates and changes you’ve seen over the last year have been from her.

For those of you who’ve stuck by me, I am humbled and so appreciative. For those of you who’re new to me, welcome and get comfortable. I have a Facebook fan page now for anyone who would like to go over there and Like it. If you buy your books from Amazon or Barnes and Noble or All Romance eBooks or wherever, if there’s a Like button, please click it. Not just for my books, but for other authors you like as well. It does help us gain notoriety with other readers. And if you’re of a mind to, leave a review or at least a star rating. These help authors as well.

I do think that’s all for now. If there’s more, I’ll let you know.

I believe author Kate Davies will be on the blog tomorrow so please come check her out!

Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Some new things in the world of Lissa Matthews…

Where to begin? Let me see…

Okay, well… You saw that I’ve gotten back into Snippet Saturday. So be sure to tune in for that each week.

I have over on the sidebar of the blog and on the sidebar of the home page a Newsletter sign-up box! Every so often I get an email or message about a newsletter and how I need one, how someone wishes I had one, etc… Well, I listened, reluctantly. I never thought to have a newsletter but we’re going to. We’re all in this together. If I’m kicking and screaming about it, you’re coming along too! Sign up and I’ll be getting the first issue ready to go in January.

I have a new Facebook Author Page. I need you to go LIKE it! Pretty, pretty, pretty please? Again, never thought to have one, but it’s there. It has the yummy-ass cover of Twisted Up on it! If for no other reason you go to like it, that male torso and hand holding the rope ought to be enough. Here’s the URL: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lissa-Matthews/252635701464917

This is release month… There are a lot of things happening. I will be guest blogging all over the place starting December 14th on Delilah Devlin’s blog. This is information that will likely be up on the Facebook Author Page as well, where I’m going to be guesting, giving away, etc…

I’ve joined with some authors in the second book of a charity project: Authors Helping Harry… raising funds for cancer research. You can read about Harry, here! I was thrilled to be able to participate in this, which was arranged by author Karin Tabke’s assistant.

You can find the first book on Amazon: Author Moments… All proceeds go to help fund cancer research. There are amazing authors in this… Shayla Black, Melissa Schroeder, Kris Cook, Virna DePaul, Sophie Oak, Karin Tabke, Eliza Gayle, Elizabeth Silver and many more…

The second book, Author Moments II isn’t out yet, but I’ll let you know when it is. The awesome Kendra Egert created the cover for it:

Please visit the Facebook page for Authors Helping Harry as well as the blog!

I believe that’s all I have right now for y’all. I’ve hired an assistant. She will be helping me, or rather forcing me to give up control of my calendar and a few other things so I can get onto and into the business of writing. Her name is Brandy and she’s going to be an awesome change for me. Y’all want books. I want to write books. The business end of this business is time consuming and she’s going to help me with that along with regular blog content, cover thoughts, etc… I’m gonna have a well-oiled or at least a well disciplined machine here if it kills me!

Y’all, my readers, are awesome! Have a great day!

Birthday Girl Lissa Matthews (The Demon is an Angel)

This was my first Ellora’s Cave release!

Genre: Paranormal
Length: Novella
Available from Ellora’s Cave: http://www.jasminejade.com/pm-7707-599-the-demon-is-an-angel.aspx

Blurb:

When ex-government assassin Delan is kidnapped by Riko, a sex demon, he’s taken care of and sexually serviced in any manner he desires by Riko’s personal sex slaves. And while not one to bemoan his good fortune, Delan is a man of action and in need of a mission. He’s about to be given one by the name of Angel.
Riko’s half-sister Angel is just that, an angel. Not just any kind of angel though, she’s a hybrid being—sex demon and sex angel. And she’s in need of being tamed. Barred by Riko from having sex with her fellow sex demons, she’s forced to suffer the inadequate fumbling of humans, both male and female.
When Delan and Angel meet, sparks fly. She’s defiant and he’s determined, but the lust and hunger hit them both between the eyes and below the belt. Sex is hard and hot, a little kinky and a whole lot naughty. But Delan needs to find something more than sex to rein her in, or she’ll destroy it all.
Excerpt:
The fire raged out of control. Angel stood off to the side, blending into the gathered crowd, and admired her handiwork. The damn man hadn’t been worth her damn time. He had been nothing but a waste of an orgasm. She should have known better. She should always know better, and wondered when it was going to sink in finally that there was no human who could satisfy her needs and cravings. If her brother hadn’t forbidden every male demon from mating with her, she wouldn’t have to settle for less-than-stellar encounters. This human’s life was certainly going to look a little bleaker when he came home and found his house reduced to a pile of ashes, his bank account empty, and his boat sailing off to destinations unknown with a couple of women, looking to escape bastards like him, at the helm. She sighed. It really sucked that she couldn’t kill the ones who made her miserable, like her brother and the other demons could. Without that quality, she could only torture them, tempt them to destruction, and destroy or relocate their most prized possessions.
Men were such a pain in the ass, and not the good, pleasurable kind either. The women she’d come across hadn’t been much better, but then who could blame them? She’d enjoyed both men and women as lovers but it was all always empty in the end. They always wanted more, wanted things, wanted material things that didn’t matter, and she hated them for it. They were full of greed, always coveting what someone else had.
Demons were wasted on them, honestly. Humans could and did and would continue to destroy themselves without any outward help.
But as long as the demons were around, and since she was part demon, she’d help. She loved being bad, demonic, full of fire. She knew the dangers of drowning the angel inside. She couldn’t seem to help it though, couldn’t seem to give a shit. She wasn’t going to find what she wanted, what she craved with a human, a fact she’d long ago accepted, so what other choice did she have?
She turned away and crossed the street. Jumping in her little black car, she sped off with the radio blaring, passing the fire engines on their way to what’s-his-name’s house.
Her cell vibrated against her hip and she had the fleeting thought that if she’d placed it in her pocket, she might be having a pleasant thrill right about then. Damn hindsight and all. She would have to remember that.
Taking it out and seeing her brother’s number on the screen, she debated answering and finally decided against it. He knew what she’d done just as he always did, and she just didn’t want to hear it.
You’re killing him.
It was true too. Every time she blew something up, lost her temper and started a firestorm, or just instigated general mayhem, he knew and called to admonish her, to remind her… She didn’t need reminding. Riko had drilled it into her all her life. She was the one who could bring balance and she was tired of hearing about it. The demons would find another way to survive. They would have to.
As she pulled into her driveway, she could see the smoke over the tops of the trees at the back of her house. It would be a while before the good men of the fire department were able to put it out completely, and she tried not to think about what one of them or all them would look like naked afterward, showering away the soot and ash and sweat. Should she chance a stop by the station house to offer her services? The wicked thought made her grin.
“That your handiwork?”
Angel spun her head around at the voice. A man, a very average-looking man, was walking up her driveway. She looked him up and down with blatant hunger, mirroring the same look in his bright blue eyes. He was a walking cream dream in hip-hugging threadbare jeans and a T-shirt that outlined every muscle in his upper body. Okay, well, maybe not quite so average after all. He certainly made her panties wet. She flung the car door open and stepped out, slamming it shut, irritated that she was horny. Again. “Yes. How did you know?”
“Your brother.”
“My brother sent you? Why? Who are you?”
“Honestly? He wants me to fuck you, tame you and, get this…love you. And the name is Delan.”
Angel laughed out loud and in his face. Tame her? Love her? Was he serious? The fuck-her part she was good with, very, very good with. “Riko said all that?”
“Yes.” He took a step toward her. “Interested?” The last word, spoken softly, almost with a growl, had Angel feeling it right between her legs.
Yes. Oh hell yes! We are interested. Tell him we’re interested. “No. I’m not.” She turned on her heel, flipping long, dark red waves over her shoulder, sure to catch him in the face with the black-tipped ends, and started to walk away. His hand gripped some of the strands in a fist, stopping her flight and pulling her forcefully back against the solid wall of his chest. The hard cock pressed against her own denim-covered ass filled her with images of bending forward to take him in each hole.
On the one hand, she was outraged at his audacity to manhandle her like that. On the other hand, she wanted him inside her, leaning up against her car, not caring one bit if the neighbors watched or the paint got scratched.
Besides, her brother had gone to all the trouble to send him, she might as well take him for a test drive.
His lips were against her ear, rasping along the edges. “I wasn’t done talking to you.”
Two could play this game. Angel rubbed herself against him like a cat in heat. “Why do we need to talk? That’s not what you were sent here for.”
The fist loosened and his hand slid around the back of her neck to her throat, then up, until one finger slid between her willing, open lips. “No, you’re right, it wasn’t. Let’s go. Unless you’d rather do it out here in the driveway.”
She sucked on the salty digit in her mouth and bit down hard, harder, and not once did he flinch or try to pull back. Pushing his finger out with the tip of her tongue, she moved away from him and walked up to her front door with him right behind her, his shirt coming off before they even got inside.
Her shirt followed suit, over her head and onto the floor. His hands were on her bra, pulling the cups down under her breasts. “Oh yeah, just like that,” he grunted.
He tweaked her nipples, giving a hard tug before going to work on both their jeans. One hand on hers and one hand on his, the buttons were released and the zippers down. His mouth latched onto the tender skin between her neck and shoulder while he helped her out of her pants.
“Not in a hurry, are you?” The words were moaned as his lips traveled down her chest to latch onto a nipple, biting it much as she had bitten his finger.
Lifting his head, he winked and grinned. “In a very big damn hurry, actually.”
She watched as he shucked his own jeans and stood naked, his cock hard and thick, long by the average human standards. “That looks painful,” she said, reaching out to wrap her fist around the shaft, and was rewarded with an incoherent string of curses that made even her blush.
“It is,” he hissed.
“Then let’s see if we can take care of it.”

Blurb:

Kasper Griffin is in love with two people: his business partner and lover, Tony and their business manager, Lucy. Kasper and Lucy have been involved in a sexual affair for the past few months and he’s decided that it’s time to bring Lucy into his relationship with Tony, making them a permanent threesome. Having talked with Tony at length and knowing that the man is eager to explore Lucy himself, Kasper is still uncertain how Lucy will react to his proposition.

During a recent trip to Egypt, Kasper learns of a turquoise stone rumored to lower one’s inhibitions. It’s the perfect gift for Lucy, a way to introduce her to the idea of a complete partnership with him and Tony. He does not tell Lucy of the charm, but after he gifts the stone to her in a most provocative way, sexual desire besieges her at every turn, opening her to ideas she’d previously not considered.

With some charm and coaxing from Tony and Kasper, and a heart to heart with her brother, Lucy realizes that love and the hot sex to which she’s become accustomed is what she desires more than anything and she wants to share it all with both men.

Excerpt:

The thumb sized turquoise stone settled gently in the red gold curls covering her wet, heated sex. Kasper Griffin’s hand slowly drifted down, one long finger sliding inside her, eliciting a moan from them both. This sweet and not so innocent woman was hot and so responsive to him, to everything he said or did and he shook each time she uttered a sound. Just like now.

Kasper looked up to find her blue eyes watching him. They seemed more intense now than the other times they’d been together. Maybe it was from the stone linking with her, like the old woman at the bizarre said it would, he didn’t know, but they were gleaming with a lust that burned straight through him.

Against her honey-gold skin, his darkness contrasted sharply and the turquoise was brilliant. It seemed that in some indefinable way it was meant for her. Both were smooth, the rough edges having been stroked and rubbed away by time and life. Both were cool at first touch, but warmed in mere seconds. He’d never known a woman and a stone could connect like this, and he was fascinated by it.

“You should be wearing turquoise daily. It’s beautiful against you.”

She lifted her head and looked down. “Mmm. Yes.”

Her smile was both angelic and wicked at the same time. His finger still inside her, he twisted it, and curled it up, her back arched, her legs tensed and opened wider, sending the stone lower until it came to rest against her clit.

“Oh my,” Kasper whispered. “Maybe a piercing here, hmmm? A ring with a turquoise teardrop?”

“Oh yes, maybe.” She gasped as she spoke. “And maybe you should stop toying with me, Kas. Please.”

“Toying with you? Is that what I’m doing?” He wiggled his finger inside her, then slid it out of her. He saw she was watching him again and he knew she was wondering what he was going to do with the juices coating his finger. She licked her lips in suggestion and he smiled, knowing she wanted a taste and she pouted a little when he licked one side of his finger. “Yes, baby, I suppose I am toying with you, but then…” He lowered the finger to her mouth and she opened it readily, sucking it between her lips, her tongue swirling around it. She sucked his finger like a cock and there was almost nothing in the world better than a good cocksucker. Almost. “Then again, maybe I”m not toying with you.”

Kasper got up on his knees between her legs draping hers over his thighs. His finger still in her mouth, he took his cock in his other hand and guided it inside her pussy. Her teeth raked his skin and her hands fisted in the sheets. She loved to fuck.

She wanted sex as often as he did and he loved her appetite for it. Theirs was usually fast and hard, a primal mating of clothes ripping and up against the wall, bent over the bed or down on the floor fucking. But this afternoon was different. She was different. It was like a new energy inside her, forcing a new kind of hunger. She strained with need and he just wanted to come, wanted her to come, so they could do it all over again.
