Who could resist Bruce Willis singing Save The Last Dance…
I’m not sure why this song has been on my mind lately, or songs like it. One of my favorite movies is The Wedding Date. I think I need to watch it soon. Maybe that’ll satisfy me… But for now, Bruce Willis singing… I love that man.
Have a great Monday, y’all…
I’m breaking with tradition for a bit. See, I usually don’t start the Christmas music until the week of Thanksgiving, but I’ve started a little early. One of my favorite Christmas albums is by SheDAISY, Brand New Year. I love them, all their albums and one day they’ll have a new one, but for now, at this time of year, I wear the hell out of their Christmas one.
Santa’s Got A Brand New Bag is on the soundtrack of The Santa Clause 2 and I love it. The movie and the song… So, thought I’d share it with you.
The holidays are about love and togetherness and we don’t see our families much. My husband doesn’t get the days surrounding the holidays off very often and money is tight for every one lately. Facebook and phone calls and video chats just aren’t the same as a hug or late night conversations eating left over holiday pie. Times change and family and friends move… And while it’s my favorite time of year, it’s also at times a very lonely one when you’re missing parents, grandparents, siblings. If yours are close by, be Thankful. One of the things I love about SheDAISY is that they’re sisters and I think that’s wonderful, to be close like that.
Oh and in case you weren’t aware, and this is vitally important information, the classic television special Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer is on CBS next Tuesday, before Thanksgiving. I don’t remember the last it was on in November. It’s a tradition in our house. It’s campy and sometimes ridiculous, but it’s part of my memories as a child, so, I’ll be tuned in promptly at 8pm.
Have a great week, y’all. And don’t forget my new release, The Cupcake Cowboy comes out Friday, the 22nd.
It’s getting closer, y’all and I’m super excited! I’m reading through, finishing up revisions, adding here and there. I’ll be sending out ARCs for review, and if you want one, you can sign up Here. We’re making a limited number of them available and there are guidelines for you to follow…
I write to music. This is no secret. I revise and edit to music most of the time too. The Cupcake Cowboy’s personality inspiration came from this song…
I talked more inspiration yesterday, this time food wise, over on my post at Wild and Wicked Cowboys, Cooking for Inspiration.
I need to get back to work. Y’all have a great day!
I don’t know about y’all, but sometimes I just need to listen to something different to get myself into a whole new headspace. I’m not very good with a lot of the popular music today cause it just…well, sucks. Of course, that’s my opinion and mine alone. You may love it and that’s awesome for you.
When I’m in need for that different feel or mood or headspace, I’ll revert a lot of times to old songs or classical. I’m a trained musician and fall back to that a lot. For many years I inhaled and exhaled music and anything to do with it. I might be playing the Stamitz Flute Concerto in G Major (which has always been one of my favorites and I was never as good as this girl) by day and by night I was headbanging my best friend at a Motley Crue concert.
Music in various forms is healing, therapeutic, and powerful, which is most times why I will be listening to it when I’m writing, cooking, or just doing whatever. It’s been such a huge part of my life that I can’t imagine it not influencing me in profound ways…
I’ve needed a change in mindset for several months now. I desperately need a change in scenery too (mountains, please), but one thing at a time, usually. Music right at my fingertips is the easiest way to fuel creative juices and it’s been classical lately, mostly Bond and Sarah Brightman (she is so ethereal and she makes it look so effortless). There’s passion and flair and a depth, a range that inspires me…
If music in any way inspires you or moves you… play it loud and play it proud. I’m off to write now…
Today’s Music Monday post is not going to be very inspirational. Cute, maybe. Downright roll your eyes 80’s pop, definitely.
This week is Authors After Dark in Savannah and I’m not going to be there. I’m going to be down and depressed so y’all should just brace yourselves now.
If you’re going to AAD, I hope you have a wonderful time. It’s a great conference and there are so many incredible people and events to attend.
If you’re not going, you can wallow in misery with me… 😉
