Yes, yes, yes! We’re participating in another giveaway hop. Don’t y’all like how I always say ‘we’re’ most of the time instead of just ‘I’. I do. I like it to sound and be as though y’all are included because well, those of you who read this blog on a steady basis ARE included. All the time.
This hop is brought to us by I Smell Sheep (interesting name, huh?) and Fictional Candy! Please take some time and visit their sites…
So, for the next 7 days, hopefully some new readers and visitors are going to drop by, take a look around, give a comment or two, and maybe, just maybe a few of them will come back and join in regular like. 😉
In this hop, I am going to be giving away a cute tote bag that says “When I get a little money, I buy books; and if any is left over, I buy food and clothes.” The saying is by Erasmus and the sentiment is something all of us can probably relate to. Now, along with this tote bag, I’m going to be giving away a $20 gift card to Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com. Your choice, of course.
What do you have to do to enter? It’s simple really. Answer the following question by leaving a comment. I’d love it and it’d be really cool if you wanted ‘Like’ my Facebook page or sign up for my newsletter or follow my blog on Networked Blogs (all options are over on the side bar ——> ), but it’s not a requirement for this hop.
So, my question is… who was your teen idol? I started thinking about Davy Jones when he passed away last week and while the Monkees were already done by the time I knew who they were, I still loved them. I loved David Cassidy from the Partridge Family and loved Shawn Cassidy in the Hardy Boys. But those were when I was little. In my teens, my early teens I had a thing for Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran. I still have a thing for him, too. In my late teens, it was Richie Sambora and Nikki Sixx. I wasn’t much for the actors in my teens but the musicians… Who was yours?
I’ll pick the winner on March 14th…
Best of Luck to you all! And don’t forget to head off to the next blog…
~lissa

Mine was Alexi Laiho from the band Children of Bodom. Thanks for the giveaway!
Thanks for being part of our blog hop! What a great prize you are give away:) I agree with the tote bag quote. My first crush was Donnie Osmond, then Shawn Cassidy and Lief Garret. My first band crush was Peter Criss of Kiss and Adam Ant…well I could go on and on…
Oh my gosh, how could I forget about Lief! LOL… I loved him…
My teen Justin Timberlake when he was all young in NSYNC & JTT hahaha oh geez!!! I linky follow you & like your FB page, great giveaway, that tote sounds exactly like me 🙂
Dprissypunk(at)gmail(dot)com
I love how you can tell how old the commenters are by their choices. I had a crush on Davy Jones when I was about 10, by the time I was a teen he was out of the spot light. I really liked Pierce Brosnan in his role as Remington Steele and Shawn Cassidy, both are kind of on the small side for men, as an adult, I prefer taller, more muscular men.

I liked your FB page and already was a NB follower.
I was totally noticing that as well, Anne! Hopefully we’ll get a lot of different age ranges…that will be fun!
you’re not going to laugh at me if I say that I loved Britney Spears in her ‘hit-me-baby-one-more-time’ years, right? cause it’s the sad truth!

Nope. We will not be laughing about anyone loving Britney Spears. Right, everyone? Not even a little tiny smirk. Promise.

I liked Shaun Cassidy as well, but I’d have to say my first major crush was John Taylor of Duran Duran (did like Nick as well!), then moved on to the rock bands – Jeff Watson of Night Ranger, Richie of Bon Jovi, Kelly Hansen of Hurricane (now fronts Foreigner)….oh, those are nice days to think about!
Thanks for the question!!!
And I follow you on Twitter, get your email newsletter and try and check the blog daily because it just told me email following of the blog is not enabled!
I’m too boring for Facebook so can’t “like” you there, but would if I did have a page!

Loved Davy Jones, the lead singer of Bay City Rollers (can’t remember his name now!) and Leif Garrett. Oh, I think I just dated myself! LOL!
suz2@cox.net
Teen idol? I guess I was an old soul because I was all about the older men: Tom Selleck, Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Billy Joel. I loved the Cassidys too.

LOL, I love this post – very interesting question of who was or is my idol .
When I was 12 yrs old I went to see Donnie Osmand and was in love with the song “Puppy Love” – yes I’m that old now – LOL I think before that it was Fonzie from Happy Days and David Cassidy and the Partidge Family. Then there was John Travaltra from Welcome Back Carter, lets see then as I got older I was into Freddie Murcury from Queen and Eddie Van Halen from Van Halen and David Lee Roth. I think I even had a crush on Rod Stewart – LOL Maybe it was just the fact I love guys with long hair and rock and roll – hee hee
Even now as I think about it, I still cling to the rockers with long hair. LOL my husband even has shoulder link long hair – what can I say – back in the day we were known as the headers (usually the ones outside smoking pot – LOL)
I’ve grown up since then but I still seem to fall for the guys with long hair to just look at – LOL Its funny even in my military days when I was single I had an opportunity to date any hard buff looking guy but I never did because I cant stand guys with short hair. Sure their bodies were nice to look at but without the long hair it just turned me off – ha ha.
Anyway, I would love to win and thank you for the awesome giveaway. I am totally stalking you too.

My teen idal was Joey Lawerence! OMG

Omg…this question makes me realize I didn’t really have a teen idol! 😛 At least not one that was a real person. I had a huge obsession with Anime for years (still kind of have) and I guess my idols came from them, like Sora from Digimon, she was always my favorite. 😛 Lol, that’s weird even for me…
veronicam46 at hotmail dot com
One of my first crushes was Parker Stevenson from the Hardy Boys. I also loved Leif Garrett.
sstrode at scrtc dot com
I was still a teen when grey’s anatomy started hmm well I think I was 18 anyway, but I was obsessed with Patrick Dempsey…… I still am 😉 if we want to go a bet younger I would have to say Nick Carter from the backstreet boys.
savannahm1987@gmail.com
Ha! I was and still am such a New Kids On The Block girl. Donnie was my fave. Still is. And I am blessed with a DH that indulges me and takes me to the concerts every year since they started touring again. It’s crazy fun and I always hook up with a bunch of friends from school. It is a blast!
Thanks so much for a chance to win! 🙂

My teen idol was Michael J Fox – oh man Family Ties and Back to the Future – and Kirk Cameron – Growing Pains (although I have recently been turned off by him)…
I read through the previous comments and noted the generation gaps as well! Also good for a laugh.
Hmm I agree with Shannon. I loved Michael J Fox! sitll do. I really love what he has done for parkinson disease. I also USED to like kirk Cameron but like Shannon recently got disgusted by him (sorry turned off just not enough I was so disappointed). I loved watching TGIF with my family

Well, first there were the David & Shaun Cassidy, followed by David Bowie when I was 10 — then I was totally in love with Billy Idol (back in the Gen X days). Actors — well Johnny Depp is the only actor that can turn both me AND my daughter (now 26) in *squee*-ing fangirls!

I don’t think I really had any idols, nothing long term, I sure liked a lot of artist but never got an idol. 😉 Does that make me booring?
elvenspirit at gmail dot com
My idol started out with Rick Springfield as a preteen/young teen. Then around late teens it was Jon Bon Jovi….Yummilicious….and both men are still extremely hot…LOL
I was crazy about David Cassidy too!
mamabunny13 at gmail dot com
I love these responses! They’re so much fun. We’ve got Elvis (who is timeless) to Justin Timberlake! With several Michael J. Fox answers, David Cassidy and Shawn as well… Just too fun!
Corey Haim was my teen idol… before that River Phoenix.
shush, no I’m not cursed. I liked Johnny Depp, too! *pulls tongues*
I didn’t have any celebrity idols. In Jr. High, I had fictional boyfriends, lol. Back then they were from Harlequin Presents novels that I used to read as fast as my mother would get them in the mail. They changed from book to book, just that fast. In high school, I had eyes only for my boyfriend, who I was with from my sophomore year until I was 21 years old. He was built like a brick S**T house, played football, was my first love(r) (and one of my best, lol) and was my everything. And the kicker was, he was a year younger than I was, and I scandalized the whole school (my graduating class had 27 people in it, lol). I didn’t even read back then – I KNOW, RIGHT?!! *sigh* Those were the days.
Thanks so much for the great giveaway chance!

I don’t really idolize any famous people. I can’t recall ever having done so..I mean, I have my “omfg he’s so hot” but, that’s not idolizing. I guess I’ll just tell you the first famous crush I remember having, since that’s the best I can give you :p and that would be Edward Furlong.
Thanks for the giveaway.

I would have to say Madonna was my idol when I was a teenager. I think it was the bad girl attitude.
The famous celebrities during my teen years, yikes. They are gone and little known now. The mid 90’s. I’m going with Kirk Cobain, Edward Furlong, and Eddie Veder(sp?). Yep those were my high school years crushes.
Great giveaway.

I grew up watching the Monkees reruns and LOVED Peter Tork. I also loved Shaun Cassidy on the Hardy Boys. Leif Garrett and Andy Gibb were also crushes of mine.
Thanks for the great giveaway. I can definitely relate to the saying. I think we must have had the same types of idols in the late 80’s (I loved the “hair bands”, including Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Motley Crue, Etc).

I love the tote saying!! It’s so true too!
When I was 5 years old, it was Michael Jackson! I had a picture of him that my mom framed for me that I kept in my dresser, until my dad found it. He didn’t think that I should think boys/guys were cute at such a young age. In my teens, I was OBSESSED with Corey Haim! So sad that he passed away. 🙁 I have watched ALL of his movies! I liked the Monkeys too. I used to sing the song all of the time. It’s a catchy tune.
Thank you for the giveaway and the HOP! I will be FB & Twitter stalking you now. 😉
