It’s been a little while since I’ve participated in a hop and this one is right up my alley at the moment. I have 3 M/M books coming out over the next 3 months and I am proud of them. I met some amazing LGBT authors at Authors After Dark in New Orleans this year and to be counted among them, however small my place, I am nothing short of honored.
For this hop, I am going to be giving away the first book in a series by Tibby Armstrong titled, No Apologies. I read this book, the second, and the third, each in one sitting, each with tears in my eyes at some point. I loved this series and love the emotion Tibby fills all her characters with. There’s depth and pain and love and sacrifice. She’s a wonderful storyteller…
Cheerful and friendly, Aaron Blake has never met a puzzle that intrigues him more than brooding Greg Falkner. He wants to get to know his roommate, but it seems the only way past his shell is through it. When a reluctant friendship turns into a budding romance, can the two keep their feelings secret from their classmates? Or will their newfound love destroy them both?
Or so goes the story screenwriter Greg Falkner spins for audiences and his longtime partner, Aaron Blake, in No Apologies. Loosely based on their lives together, the film rocks Hollywood with its blatant portrayal of two teenagers falling in love and coming of age in a world that struggles to accept them, while they in turn struggle to accept themselves.
At the end of the evening, will Greg’s risky venture break a relationship that’s already foundering? Or will the real-life Greg and Aaron also find their happily ever after with No Apologies?
And, I’m going to be giving away the first in a series by J.L. Langely titled, My Fair Captain. It’s a Sci-Fi Regency. Two things about this book… One, it was the first M/M I had ever read and after it, I was completely hooked on the genre. Two, it was the first Sci-Fi I had ever read and sadly, other than this series, I am not hooked on that genre. But adding the Regency element into it was so different for me and I was in love with historicals anyway… This was completely new and fun and I fell in love with these characters. I read this book at least once every couple of months. It’s a definite go to for me. It’s full of passion and protocol and falling in love and a hero brought to his knees by the most unlikely man. It was such a fun book.
Talk about a compromising situation!
A storm of political intrigue, murderous mayhem and sexual hungers is brewing on planet Regelence.
Swarthy Intergalactic Navy Captain Nathaniel Hawkins ran from a past he had no intention of ever reliving. But when his Admiral asks him to use his peerage, as an earl and the heir to a dukedom, to investigate a missing weapons stash, he’s forced to do just that. As if being undercover on a Regency planet where the young men are supposed to remain pure until marriage isn’t bad enough, Nate finds himself attracted to the king’s unmarried son.
All Prince Aiden Townsend has ever wanted was to be an artist. He has no interest in a marriage of political fortune or becoming a societal paragon. Until he lands in the arms of the mysterious Earl of Deverell. One look at Nate’s handsome face has Aiden reconsidering his future. Not only does Nate make a virile subject for Aiden’s art, but the great war hero awakens feelings in Aiden he has never felt, feelings he can’t ignore.
After a momentous dance at a season ball, Aiden and Nate find themselves exchanging important information and working closely together. They have to fight their growing attraction long enough to find out who stole the weapons and keep themselves from a compromising situation and certain scandal.

Come Say HI
Love is love no matter where you find it. I read Uban/Roux Cut & Run and I was off. Ty & Zane are still my favorites but I’ve found a lot more out there to love.
I forgot to add my address 1_trouble @ msn . com
Sounds great! Please count me in. Thanks!

What keeps me reading mm, as opposed to mf, romance, is the potential equality and reciprocity between the partners. You get to just dump the whole issue of inherent inequality/marginalization/infantilization/etc. at the door. Sure, the partners may not be equal — but when there ARE inequalities, they have to be explained in some way. There is no “just because she’s female” assumption. That’s very gratifying for me.
As for your giveaway — I’ve already purchased and read (and enjoyed) My Fair Captain, but I’d love to give the Armstrong book a try!

Oh, I forgot the part about favorites. I have a few favorites. Harper Fox and Amy Lane are two of my favorite mm authors….I think Fox is probably the best mm prose stylist out there right now, and Lane is probably the best at handling the overwrought emotional angst so ubiquitous in the romance genre. Also Josh Lanyon for his great characters. 🙂
I love to read MM books. Something about two hot men following love just draws me in. A favorite of mine is Amber Kell

There is always a built in power imbalance in m/f. Social equals can play on a different filed than a mere struggle for gender equality. Plus, I am not always happy with the female characters in romance novels. Men are more compelling to,read about. I love Josh Lanyon. And I love those little coffee cups!!
Oh there are so many things I love about gay romances. It’s hard to pinpoint one thing. I guess I like the maleness in the books, the powerful attractions and often the conflicts involved. They’re different from m/f’s.
Favorite books? Man, also too many to count, hehe. Funny you should mention a sci-fi. I haven’t read My Fair Captain, but I did read A Solid Core of Alpha by Amy Lane this week and it was sooooo powerful. It’s perfect for those who don’t like the future techno stuff, because this one’s more about the characters and the shit they have to go through (think 12 year old boy, a sole survivor, watching his home planet explode from a small window of a big space ship – alone for the next ten years with nothing but holograms to keep him company (those holograms become as real as real people, so not even them are all tech-sounding)). I definitely recommend it ^.^
I love the acceptance and tenderness of the characters. The men on M/M roamnces seem t be realistic more so than M/F.

I enjoy the latitude and flexibility in the relationships in MM fiction. I really enjoy Megan Derr, Cari Z, Cameron Dane, Val Kovalin, TJ Klune to name a few.
Thanks for participating in the Hop.
To me a romance is a romance. Be it mf or mm, it is all about the story. A favorite mm of mine is Warrior Night by Patricia Logan.

I like a good romance story and I’m not really particular about the characters’ sexual orientation. I think everyone should get their HEA.
As to favorites, I like a variety of styles: Charlie Richards, Mary Calmes, Cardeno C, M J O’Shea, Sean Michaels, Eden Winters.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

I love LGBT books because they’re less cliched than het romances, and the m/m books’ male characters are much more varied and appealing. Favorites include Eden Winters’ DIVERSION, Clare London’s SAY A LITTLE PRAYER, Tara Lain’s DECEPTIVE ATTRACTION, Kayelle Allen’s WULF: TALES OF THE CHOSEN, Lynn Lorenz’s THE BEST VACATION THAT NEVER WAS, and Evangeline Anderson’s STR8TE BOYS.
I feel like MM has more equal relationships, inside and outside the bedroom. And so many MF has whiny females, I hate whiny females. My favorite author is Amy Lane, Andrew Grey, Kaje Harper, etc….
Thanks for participating!

I first met Tibby when I read and reviewed No Apologies for The Romance Reviews. Since I knew my review wouldn’t post for a while, I emailed Tibby to squee, and we’ve been friends ever since. She also tolerates my insane obsession with Aaron and Greg (they’re my boyfriends. They’ve both agreed on it. http://twitter.com/GregoryFalkner/status/180325627730198529 <– proof)
I've not read anything by AJ Langley, but if you recommend then I definitely will pick My Fair Captain up. I trust your judgment.
It was so awesome to meet you at AAD NOLA! I can't wait to see you again at AADSAV!
Probably Fire Season by Lex Valentine. I don’t seek out GLBT books, but if a blurb sounds good sexuality of the characters doesn’t matter.

Like a lot of the other comments here, I think its the equality element that attracts me to MM, and probably an insight into a life I cant live. I first read the Bethany Brown/Ashlyn Kane Lost Boys books. My current fave authors are Jo Myles, Kaje Harper and Ava March (the Bound series, for regency with ropes!)
What draws me to m/m stories is their true equality. My fav is The Gift It’s BDSM between a couple split; so he could take care of his brothers, after their parents death. It is a One Night Stand story- Quicky read, but the feelins were there. There are more military stories coming out, Once a Marine by Cat Grant. Leather and Lust by McKenna Chase has cowboy action. Bareback by Chris Owen. Nathan Morrissey wrote 3 Erotic Gay Tale Books. I also like the f/m/m stories where the girl comes upon her 2 male friends going at it- then it turns into a menage. I had read what started out as am/m household, where they fell i love with their cleaning lady, who was an bused wife. The pulled her out of the situation and lavished their shared love on her. It was a polyamourous relationship. The 1st book ends with her having a child that looked exactly like one of the men. In the 2nd book both men have serious medical events. One recuperates quicker. but the other was in a motorcycle crash, having PT and OT. He developed a jealosy/depression over the child. Once he was well and more sexually responsive to both partners; they used condoms, so she would get pregnant with his child. When the child was born, he looked just likehim; then he realized what they had done out of their love for him. Sorry for being so wordy, but I felt I had to share that. The men went back to their original closeness and their wife benefited from their overabundance of love.
These look like an intriguing read. Hope to get the opportunity.
I really like the dynamics of the mm relationship in romance novels. I rarely get annoyed with the characters as I do when reading mf romance. I have loved My Fair Captain for a long time and am impatiently awaiting the next in the series.
I’m not sure what exactly draws me to M/M. I think for me its all romance, doesn’t matter who is involved, I just love the romance.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I love the romance, story line, and characters.

I love m/m because it’s okay for real men to show emotion and not be stoic, which you find a lot of in m/f. I have a lot of autobuy authors but my favorite m/m books are Sloan Parker’s Breath, Blacque/Bleu by Belinda McBride and Nothing Ever Happens by Sue Brown.
Love the characters,the variety.

There is just something so satisfying seeing men get their HEA or HFN no matter their orientation.
