First and foremost, if you know anyone that has served in the armed forces, past and present, thank them.
They put their lives on the line for all that we hold dear. They do their part…
I have friends and family that have served during peace time and during wars…they have my utmost respect and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifices they’ve made. We, as a nation, need to do a better job at caring for our veterans…
Now… I promised 18 people some books. Some of you will not get the book you wanted until tomorrow because it won’t be available until tomorrow. The rest of you though, will be emailed throughout the day today.
Last night I posted a tweet that said because my driver, Kyle Busch, driver of the #18 came in 3rd in the Coca-cola 600, I would do a special giveaway.
And true to my word, I will. I just haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet…I will have it figured out by the end of the day and after I’ve had about 3 days worth of caffeine.
If you haven’t seen the pictures that I’ve taken and posted on my twitter account which posted on my facebook account, you should. I got some good shots from the different vantage points. Down on the sidebar here on the blog are my most recent tweets… And much as I love the races and I LOVE the races…the bonding that I get with my son is priceless. DH was on one side of me listening to one scanner and my mom was on the other side of my son listening to another scanner and my son and I were just talking about the race, our drivers, watching lap speeds…his laugh, his smile, his joy, his love of this sport is infectious. It’s no different than the concerts I go to with my daughter. She loves music and live shows and there’s just nothing else like it. These experiences with my kids will last all the rest of my life and most important, they will last all the rest of their lives. I want them to remember me as embracing the things they loved, the things they were passionate about. There are many things I can’t do for my kids, things I can’t give them, but a few times a years, I can indulge them and myself in what they love so much.
It’s time for me to send out some emails now.
And I’ll let y’all know tomorrow what the extra giveaway will be!
Have a wonderful Memorial Day!

*grins* Caffeine & racing…two of my favorite things!! Have a safe Memorial's Day Lissa!
And hubba hubba on the blog pics! XD
YAY for loving the races…but ewww on liking Kyle Busch!! Sorry…can't stand him
Got to love a man in uniform….I know I do.
Sounds like a wonderful memory day for you and your son, and you can never have too many of those.
It's all right Scott… We all have those we love and those we can't stand. If we all liked the same driver, what the hell fun would that be? Rowdy is my fave, but I pull for Harvick, Kurt, Newman, Logano, and McMurray, and Labonte. I'm an equal opportunity, open-minded race fan.
I have sent emails out to everyone that commented on the giveaway! The only person I do not have an email address for is C Jones. If you will post here or contact me via email, I'll make sure you get a copy of the book you want!
Y'all are the best! Thank you.
I just enjoy the races at this point….no one i pull for. I was a Kyle Petty fan, but since he retired(forced) i haven't found someone to pull for yet
I think you're the first Kyle Petty fan I've ever 'met'. I liked his Daddy. Saw him in Daytona a couple times when I was a little girl, one of the years was the last one he raced.
I love the races myself. I love May. It's tiring going to two weeks of races, but man it's a blast!
Thanks so much for the gorgeous pictures and the book goodies!
This is such an awesome post!!! You are right, those are moments that you will never have that chance again to have. So, go for the checkered flag when your children are concerned!!!! And you are right, those are memories that will last a lifetime!!!!!
And thanks for sharing those **cough** delicious pictures!!!
Hope you had a great weekend!
I'm gonna make you a race fan yet girl and you and I are go to one! Grins…
Thanks for the wonderful reminder, Lissa! And we watched part of #18's race while at the pizza parlor yesterday–hooray!
