Welcome to my blog and welcome to the Snarkology Halloween Hop!
I’m having a hard time accepting that it’s already the end of October and the wicked holiday season is nearly upon us. That scares me more than any ghost or goblin or scary campfire story ever could!
But, October is also one of the months I look forward to most. Not for Halloween. But because it’s right in the middle of Fall and college football is just getting good! Most teams have worked out the majority of their kinks and it’s time to start playing for something more than shaking the rust off.
I spend my Saturdays watching football. I check in on scores and watch some NFL on Sundays, but for the most part, I’m a Saturday’s football kind of gal.
Some of my favorite food is Fall food, too…
Sausage and cheese balls around Thanksgiving.
Boiled peanuts.
The entire table of Thanksgiving foods!
Caramel apples. Candy apples.
Warm cider. Hot chocolate.
Molasses cookies.
And Gingerbread lattes right AFTER Thanksgiving! (come to mama!)
I love warm foods. Soups and stews and those are consistently on the menu in my house.
Sports connect our family, but no sports like football connect us. We gather on Saturdays to eat and yell at the television, cheer and groan about good plays and c’mon man and you had one job plays. We get up for Gameday and talk over breakfast and anticipate the day’s match-ups. Football season is full of texts from out of town family asking did you see that play, can you believe that call…
I was raised in the South where college football is a religion all on it’s own and marrying into the wrong team family, can bring years of division and strife… But only on Saturdays.
What brings your family together? What do you connect over? Leave a comment and I’ll choose one winner to receive a $20 Giftcard to the etailer of your choice.

Cam’s Molasses Cookies
Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup molasses
4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons baking soda
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup coarse decorating sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and molasses.
Combine the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Shape into 2-inch balls (ice cream/cookie scoops work well here) and roll in coarse sugar. Place 2-1/2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheets (I usually use parchment paper or non-stick aluminum foil). Bake 13-15 minutes or until tops are cracked. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Yield: 2 dozen.
Have fun on the hop, y’all! And don’t forget to enter!

I love Fall too. In fact, next fall what will be bringing our family together is my wedding. I’m getting married next Halloween, so it will be a big Fall-themed family get together.
Thanks for sharing the recipe. It looks good. I’ll have to give it a try.
It’s my favorite cookie recipe! I make it all the time from November 1 through Christmas.
We’re a pretty tight family, so just about everything and anything brings us together. We have family reunions with about a hundred family members, anywhere from newborn to 90 years old. It’s a great time to connect with everyone.

That’s so awesome! We haven’t had a family reunion in years. Sadly, we’ve had 5 deaths in the family over the last 18 -20 months. I’m always happy to hear when families are so tight and close.
Thanksgiving dinner brings our family together. We connect over food. (Well, and newborns. Everyone usually has to get together once to fawn over the new grandkid.)
Thanksgiving and Christmas bring our family together! We sit down for Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, pumpkin and apple pie.
Christmas time we sit around the tree give gifts, talk, eat, drink and be merry!
In my family we are always getting together for any reason. Grandma’s house is the place we all meet at. No matter what the reason we are meeting for, we always have lots of food. Everyone brings something. My Aunt has a favorite Molasses cookie recipe too. They taste like heaven. Thanks for the chance.
All of the holidays bring my family together. We have traditions for each one! Happy Halloween!
Yum recipe! We love to connect over family game night. Trouble, Sequence, and Triominoes are my favorites!!!
We used to do family game night. Now we do homework nights…laughs
We are also a pretty big football family though for us it is the NFL and the New England Patriots. I don’t think I have ever watched a college game, I fear I would become an addict! lol
I can attest to the addiction
Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner bring the family together, and we connect over food and football!
Birthdays and Christmas bring our family together
I love fall because of the trees changing colors, the smell of burning leaves and perfect bonfire weather. My kids and I bond over the sports they play. I have 2 on college scholarships for sports so after graduation my life did not slow down instead it got busier because now I have to travel out side of my home state for games. But its the best. When we are not in season for one of the sports we try to do family dinner every sunday. I also have a13 month granddaughter who I watch for my oldest so her and her husband can go to work. I thought retiring in my 40’s would be smooth sailing. Yep no I really think I’m more busy now than when all three were in high school play 3 sports per school year.
I’m a southerner as well….from North Carolina. We all know NC has some of the most intense football and basketball rivalries of … EVER! It definitely makes for interesting family gatherings and friendly get togethers, but boy is it fun!
Fall is my favorite season! We connect over our love for the outdoors this time if year. We visit the pumpkin patches, apple orchards, corn mazes, haunted houses. We also have dinner Saturday nights and follow it up with drinks and a bonfire. Thanks for the chance! bw2323bro@yahoo.com
I need to come hang out with all of you! Sounds wonderful!
Thanksgiving! I’m pretty close with my immediate family but the others not so much!
My family is very tight. We usually have dinner together at least once a week so everyone can see one another and make sure all is ok . We love to cook together and after we’ve all had our feel we play games with the kids and enjoy our time with each other since life is too short. Hope you have a Happy Halloween. susieq13458@yahoo.com
I have a tight-knit family. We have several get-together for reunions, christmas, birthdays. If any of them needs help with anything we get together to help. In fall we do fresh apple cider making. This year we did it on 3 separate Saturdays and made over 200 gallons! missykate09@gmail.com
Our family usually has regular parties for the kids birthdays,so we can all get together and share what weve been up to. Of course theres the annual halloween savenger hunt my great anut hosts.
We have a costume party,bob for apples,carve pumkins,and have a bonfire.
Thanksgiving- connect over food
My aunt and I are really close and see eachother every week to see series and movies together. We like pretty much the same things. 🙂
Our family so horribly scattered now, we come together for holidays. Before, we would all get together for football, Halloween, football, big meals, any excuse at all, especially football for my parents, but nothing at all for my sister. 🙂
LSU, Texas A&M, or New Orleans Saints football. Carnival season, Mardi Gras. And Christmas. These all bring us together. Every Saturday you can either find us glued to the TV or in Baton Rouge on campus tailgating. My husband is the LSU fan and I am the A&M fan. He is from Louisiana, where we live, and I am from Texas. Talk about drama for marrying into the wrong family!! Our wedding was decked out in our teams.
Anytime there’s a Holiday or Birthday my family comes together for a big meal.
My birthday is on Christmas Eve so all my family and friends get together at my place on that day. It’s always full house, and I have to cook for a bunch of hungry people but I wouldn’t change it for the world. The best time of the year!
thanksgiving, christmas and birthdays brings us all together
We connect on any of the holidays or birthdays.
Thanks for the chance to win!
We seem to get together mostly for birthdays and holidays!
Definitely holidays and births, unfortunately deaths as well, though we do try to have a family dinner once a month.

Christmas, holidays, events or just spontaneous meetings.
Dinner, Holidays, NASCAR… 🙂
We have 4 boys and 5 grandchildren, we get together at the local Waffle House every Christmas morning. It seems to be the only time we can get everyone together.
Sports. My family bonds over football and basketball games. For some strange reason, we all root for different teams. We get together over the weekends to watch games and eat tons of junk food.
