So close…

…to the end of this book, I can taste it. It and the warm whole wheat chocolate chip cookie bowl I’m devouring as I write this.

This week I’ve done a guest blog and an interview over at Under the Covers Book Blog. They’re celebrating 500 followers and if you haven’t been over there, go take a peek.

Next week I’ll be doing another guest blog, this time over at Shameless Romance Reviews. Again, go take a peek.

I have to thank the women at both of these blogs for inviting me, especially Ann and Dee. For an author that hasn’t put out a book in many months, one tends to get treated a little different  or not at all, so being invited to guest blog has… Well, I’m just happy to have been thought of. I am grateful that my readers have stuck with me, some with great patience, some with not great patience.

The majority of my energy this week has been put into finishing Forever In Blue Jeans, though. And running my son to and from baseball camp. While he’s playing, I’ve been spending the mornings writing in an awesome local, little coffee shop called Summit Coffee. I’m only a few thousand words away from the end and I’m anxious to get there.

I’m not putting out as many books, not finishing as many as I did last year. However, I am writing longer books. Twisted Up is 50+K and once it goes through edits will be added to, I’m sure. Forever In Blue Jeans is slated to be around 55K. In terms of last year, that would be have been the equivalent of 3 or 4 books combined. I’m liking my writing now. I think it’s stronger. And most asked for longer books so once I started writing again, I decided that I would try to make that a goal. I don’t think it’s been a conscious thing though when it’s actually come to the writing. I think it’s just happened and worked out that way.

Anyway, I wanted to take a moment before bed to touch base and say hello, let you know I haven’t forgotten you! I hope all of you are having a great week and staying as cool as possible.

Favorite Tumblr Posts From Recent Days

I’m doing this kind of post today, a picture one because, well, it’s fairly easy and not taxing my brain. Most of my cells today are focused on Forever In Blue Jeans as I am in the final turn. I’ve come around the last bend and can see the checkered flag at the finish line. I will be pouring a lot of my time this week into getting this book done. I did think though that I should leave y’all with some images of things that have been inspiring me lately…

Oh and for those of you that missed the announcement on Twitter and Facebook, I did, infact, get one of these…

I love it. I really do. Did I need it? No. But I did want one. I got a coupon in the mail from Best Buy and bought it with that. Getting some $$ of it was, well, easier to swallow. I do enjoy it a lot. The coffee is not as strong as I am used to making, so the caffeine jolt isn’t very big for me in one cup. A cup of French press coffee has a serious punch to the system that drip coffee, no matter how it drips, can come close to. I do find myself a victim of the convenience and drink more than I should now in one day. I’m chalking that up to new and need to get my money’s worth out of it. At the same time, when I was using my French press regularly, it was one 12oz cup a day. Now with the Keurig it’s more like 2 7oz cups a day. Either way, no matter how I’m trying to justify it, I do love it and am grateful to all those that participated in my blog about it a couple of weeks ago. One thing I’ve discovered, is that it would be fun to have  K-cup swap. Each person is going to like different flavors and varieties. I will use the Keurig more for flavored coffees than regular. I have bought the Cinnamon Roll, the Kahlua, and the Espresso Blend (used this one to make an iced caramel macchiato. Not as potent as from an espresso machine, but it did work well.) But, again, I can see a swap working out well for a group of people. Might have to see how one can make this into a blog thing…grin.

Hope all of you have a great week.

Convince Me I Need A Keurig!

If you have one and love it, convince me that I need one. Y’all know I’m a coffee whore. It’s a plain and simple fact. I am told more often than not in this online community when people think of me they think of three things … Coffee, cupcakes, and Vinter.

It’s more than just drinking of coffee for me. It’s the whole process. Hell, I even created a coffee station in my house with my drip maker (which I never use anymore), my espresso machine (which I need a new one), my two French presses (different sizes), and my coffee grinder (awesome).

So, it’s not that I don’t have enough coffee making paraphernalia. It’s not that I think I need one. I don’t need the hot water for hot chocolate cause I generally make it with milk, in a pot, with cocoa, and sugar, and vanilla on the stove. It doesn’t take any extra effort to heat up water for soup or oatmeal or mac and cheese cups. And because the coffee grinder has a timer, I can multi-task with coffee making. I make cold brewed coffee crack for iced coffee, so, I wouldn’t need to brew any for iced. My favorite iced coffee drink at the moment is an iced Caramel Macchiato which requires espresso. I’ve seen espresso K-cups, but I’m not sure of the strength or quality of such.

Honestly, too, the French press makes just amazingly delicious coffee…smooth, rich coffee that’s got a whole different taste than drip. I’m not really even sure that it’s cost effective with regards to the K-cups, but in a general sense, at the moment, that’s neither here nor there.

I’ve never had coffee from the Keurig and I don’t know anyone local that has one. The only people I hear talking about them are well… other authors and readers and editors and publishers, etc… Everyone is always going on and on and on about how much they LOVE their Keurig, how they can’t live without their Keurig, how their life has been transformed by their Keurig.

So, if you have one, tell me why you love it, why it’s the best thing since…well, the invention of coffee makers, and why a coffee whore such as myself should have one. Of course, if you don’t have a Keurig, tell me if you want one and why.

Oh, and yes, there is a giveaway for the person with the best, most convincing answer, I’ll give a $25 Amazon.com gift card or if you have a Keurig, a package of K-cups (we can discuss your fave, etc… upon winning if you have one).

I’ll give y’all until Monday morning, 8am EST to respond and by noon I’ll have chosen a winner.

Now, dish…!

~lissa

Oh and as more incentive to play along… I will gift a copy of Simple Need to one friend of the winner who hasn’t read it yet, but that you know wants to read it! Or to you, the winner, if you haven’t read it! But I mean, c’mon…it’s Vinter!

My Porn List

According to the World English Dictionary as cited on Dictionary.com, Porn, also called: Porno, publications or broadcasts that demonstrate an unhealthy or voyeuristic interest in a particular subject.

Well, okay. Unhealthy, I don’t know about that, but I’m sure there are cases to prove it. Voyeuristic, oh hell yes.

When the word porn is brought up, the majority of people will immediately think SEX. C’mon, didn’t your brain go there? Be honest, y’all…

But when I think porn, it’s not JUST sex that my brain automatically goes to…

There’s all kinds of porn, if you apply the dictionary definition. There’s…

Coffee porn… It’s been brought to my attention that I have an unhealthy addiction to all things coffee.

Food porn… Same with food, food blogs, kitchens, appliances, etc…

Shoe porn…I think I’m developing this one. It’s slow going, but, I think it’s in the works.

Book porn…well, this one goes without saying. HELLO!

Cupcake porn…this one goes without saying too.

Car porn…not me.

Sports porn…this could be me with certain sports (NASCAR, College Football, Golf). My son though, oh yes, completely and totally.

Clothes porn…again, I think I’m developing this one.

Trader Joe’s porn…goes without saying.

Real Estate porn…eh, not so much, but DH lately, yep.

Social media porn…some days, oh yes.

Blog porn…some days, oh yes, especially food blogs, organization blogs, etc…

Music porn…without a doubt this has been true of me since I was 12.

Office supply porn…you just have no idea.

Color porn…definitely.

Make-up porn…when I think about this, all I can think of is Dakota Cassidy and Bitch Slap Yellow!

And of course, any kind of sexual thing can be turned into porn…toys, floggers and whips, leather, nudity, etc… Y’all know that I love all these, too.

See, it’s not just about sex when the word porn is mentioned. At least not for me. If you look at my Tumblr, you’ll see that I have all kinds of things on there from male/male sex to coffee to cupcakes to BDSM to lingerie to awesome sayings to beautiful landscapes and architecture… It’s all porn to me, based on the definition from dictionary.com.

So, what’s on your porn list… What do you have a voyeuristic interest in? What could you spend HOURS or DAYS looking at?
