Birthday Bash – GutterGirls

It is the last day of my month long Birthday Bash. It has been fun. It has been wonderful. So, thank you to everyone that has taken part in either posting or commenting. I’ll have a post tomorrow wrapping things up, giving you a few pics of presents I’ll be giving away. But for now, let’s get on with today’s post…

This last group of gals… I met them on Twitter when they fell in love with Vinter from my book Simple Need.

They have a fun, hot yummy blog as a group and then each have one individually. They are…

Meet Minx:

As we get older I do think back to how simple birthdays were when I was little, getting all your friends round to your house for a buffet which included corned beef squares and pickled onions and cheese on a stick, fashioned into the style of a hedgehog. Fun times…. even if they were alcohol free! My friends and colleagues are always amazed at how I can drag my birthday into at least a week of celebrating… what girl wouldn’t given the chance! That is my answer and I know my fellow gutter girls agree with me. Although I have had some memorable birthdays, like my 21st when I fell off a bar stool, not slid… but the whole stool tiiped backwards with me sprawled on the floor being picked up by my friends boyfriends friends (one of whoms job was to import bulls’ semen…. seriosuly)…. oh and it was a packed club.

I like to spend my birthday with friends and family, and even though I am in my 30s I still insist on a birthday cake! My favourite cake is devils food cake with butter cream icing, (don’t like chocolate frosting… I know… people think I am insane) I also like to go out for a meal. no-one should have to cook or wash up on their birthday!

Now for my favourite book and book cover, I am going to go with something that is close to mine and my fellow gutter girls hearts. One of my favourite books and the book which brough Bear and I together over our love of Vane is Sherrilyn Kenyons ‘Night Play’ I read mine till it dropped to bits.

BLURB

Bride McTierney has had it with men. They’re cheap, self-centered, and never love her for who she is. But though she prides herself on being independent, deep down she still yearns for a knight in shining armor. She just never expected her knight in shining armor to have a shiny coat of fur…

Deadly and tortured, Vane Kattalakis isn’t what he seems. Most women lament that their boyfriends are dogs. In Bride’s case, hers is a wolf. A Were-Hunter wolf. Wanted dead by his enemies, Vane isn’t looking for a mate. But the Fates have marked Bride as his. Now he has three weeks to either convince Bride that the supernatural is real or he will spend the rest of his life neutered–something no self-respecting wolf can accept…

But how does a wolf convince a human to trust him with her life when his enemies are out to end his? In the world of the Were-Hunters, it really is dog-eat-dog. And only one alpha male can win.

the cover… the original… is also PINK!

How could I not love it!

Meet Bearsy:

Cake, smoochers and lots of fun! all must haves for Birthdays. Im all for acting like a Princess on your day, it’s only once a year, a girl has to take advantage of that *grins* Im pretty simple to please though, time with my friends and family, a slice of cake and a kiss or three and im a happy Bear.

Now for my favourite book, i actually have too many to choose from, so i am going with the one that has affected me the most. Acheron – Sherrilyn Kenyon. sigh. my boy Ashy, he is the great love of my Dark Hunter Life and his book had me an emotional wreck that lasted days afterwards. It took me around 11 hours to finish his mammoth book from start to finish, so happy with the outcome, but darn i was drained. It’s the book that’s stayed in my heart the longest. And Acheron brough fellow gutter girl jay and i together as partners in crime, he still is our shared mate to this day. *grins*

Blurb:

The most anticipated story in the blockbuster Dark-Hunter series. The never-before-revealed story of the Dark-Hunter leader, Acheron.  He was made human in order to escape death, but in death he was reborn a god. . .

Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. However, his human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Then, brought back against his will, Acheron became the sole defender of mankind.

Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he’ll do anything to keep concealed. Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.

Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both.

War has never been more deadly… or more fun.

I prefer the USA cover, because it was his sun symbol he wears on his body. Anyone who knows Acheron, knows it was impossible not to love his book. sigh.

Meet jaymzangel:

I, for whatever reason, have a history of crappy birthdays. the worst two being my 16th birthday & my 21st birthday. Two milestone “big” birthdays, one would think they would be fabulous. Sadly, that is not the case. My 16th birthday was crap because my so-called best friend (whose b-day was 4 days after mine) had her Sweet Sixteen party on the day of my actual birthday. she’s a complete cow, obviously. I was so depressed. birthday #16 was eclipsed by birthday #21 when I was out with the same so-called best friend & could not get served a drink because I was with her & she wasn’t 21 yet. We tried at 3 different restaurants before giving up & I went home in tears.

My best birthday was my 18th since I got my very favorite present to date. My mom (the best mom ever!) got me a plane ticket to California to go visit my best guy friend….who happened to be in the Air Force & I spent 5 days on base with loads of single guys. it was heaven! =)

My favorite way to spend my birthday is with family and friends, just a small-ish affair. I’m not really into huge parties, a result of the aforementioned crappy birthdays. as long as there’s good food & booze, it doesn’t really matter where we go. Chocolate cake with chocolate icing, ice cream are absolute requirements. I can’t have a birthday without them…and who would want to, really?

Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard is one of my favorite books. It has the perfect combo of a hot alpha male & a hot snarky chick. I love the relationship between Jaine & her three friends. Sam is a seriously sexy cop who lives next door. Jaine’s smart ass mouth reminds me of….me! =)

WHAT WOULD MAKE THE PERFECT MAN?

That’s the deliciously racy topic that Jaine Bright and her three girlfriends are pondering one night at their favorite after-hours of spot: Mr. Perfect. Would he be tall, dark, and handsome? Caring and warmhearted – or will just muscular do? As their conversation heats up, they concoct a tongue-in-cheek checklist that becomes an overnight sensation, spreading like wildfire at work and sizzling along e-mail lines. But what began as a joke among friends turns deadly serious when one of the four women is murdered….Turning to her neighbor, an unpredictable police detective, for help, Jaime must unmask a killer to save her friends – and herself. Now, knowing whom to trust and whom to love is a matter of survival – as the dream of Mr. Perfect becomes a chilling nightmare.
